ROUND SIX vs Chiltern

Seniors Football: 6.8 44 - 12.15 85

The Beechworth Bushrangers came out strong against Chiltern, applying plenty of scoreboard pressure and setting the tone with an impressive opening quarter. Unfortunately, an injury to the skipper sparked a frustrating run of bad luck, with the Bushies struck by multiple injuries throughout the day that made it difficult to generate scoring opportunities. It was a disappointing result for the group, and one they’ll be eager to respond to strongly next week. In celebrating Cam’s 150th game, the boys certainly felt they owed him a better outcome and will be keen to make amends.

Another fantastic effort from the under 12s today. All players were exceptional, with some obvious standouts. Special mentions also for Kayden Ross, Ethan Pilkington, Lucas Armstrong. We were able to mix up the positions for the last part of the game giving people a chance to play in positions  they haven’t played before and they all did extremely well.

A Grade Netball: 18 - 77

A Grade faced a challenging game against Chiltern today going down 18-77. Despite the result the girls showed determination to run out the game. Em stepped up from B grade this week and proved strong in defence. Emmerson played her 2nd game for A grade showcasing her potential and Lainey showed patience and strong front leads to open up the attacking end stepping into WA in the second quarter.

B Grade Netball: 30 - 66

A tough game today for B grade who went down to a very strong Chiltern side. Despite the end result the girls played hard for 4 quarters and strung together some fantastic passages of play out of the defensive end, creating opportunities for the girls in attack.

C Grade Netball: 23 - 52

Tough game today against Chiltern. There were some really good passages of play, however we need to string together 4 quarters. Kelly Clarkson: great attack, drive and defence. Jaime Fitzgerald: great defence for 4 quarters. Lily English: great defence with some turnovers.

C Res Netball: 25 - 37

The C res girls are starting to gel really well together as a team and the passages of play are flowing beautifully. Unfortunately today we couldn’t get the chocolates against a very strong side, but we kept close all game and fought hard until the end. Everyone put in a great effort and kept their heads up all game. I’m super proud with the girls efforts today!

U17’s Netball: 28 - 54

Faced a strong side again today going down 28-54. However was still a competitive game with good passages of play and great feeding into the ring. Good defensive pressure all down the court which lead to lots of turnovers. Great accuracy from all shooters.

U15’s Netball: 42 - 64

A tough game for the Under 15s today against strong opposition going down 64-42. There was plenty to learn from the match, with lots we can take into next week’s game.
The girls started strongly and took out the first quarter, but unfortunately Chiltern gained momentum in the second and managed to pull away. Despite the challenge, the team continued to work hard. A special congratulations to both Lily and Ellie, who each scored their 100th goal of the season.

U13s Netball: 4 - 12

The 13s showed plenty of positive passages of play today, focusing on strong passing, balancing the court to create space for drives to the ball, and holding front position. The girls listened to feedback from coaches and put it into action on court. Although Chiltern took the win, 12–4, there was still so much to take away from the match, including the great team spirit shown throughout all four quarters.

U13’s Res: 17 - 8

The girls played a strong game today in an inter league game against the U15’s res team. They had a clear focus on driving forward, balancing the court, and understanding their individual positions and roles within the team structure. They applied excellent defensive pressure throughout the match and showed great improvement in creating space, strong driving leads, and maintaining balance across the court. The U15 Res team came away with the win, however our girls provided a fantastic contest from start to finish and worked hard to make their mark on the scoreboard. Their teamwork, effort, and determination were great to see.

U11’s Wodonga: 3 - 18

U11’s Wodonga gave it their all this week for their 2nd game, unfortunately going down 3v18. The team played well against a tall, strong top age group of girls. Our mid court defence resulted in a few turn overs, but unfortunately we couldn’t keep it out of their goals. Awards: Evelina: making space and on court encouragement, Ella: sticking on her player and pressure on the ball, Scarlet: shooting and team encouragement
