ROUND FIVE vs Mitta United

Seniors Football: 6.7 43 - 20.11 131

The Beechworth Bushrangers produced a strong performance to secure a convincing win over Mitta. A fast start set the tone, with the return of key senior players adding experience and composure across the ground. Lance was dominant up forward with eight goals, while Brayden added a couple, both capitalising on the work of a midfield group that controlled play throughout. Liam Stephens, Lucas Jakobsson, Cam Fendyk and Rourke Warner (in his best game to date) were standout contributors, while the defence impressed with relentless rebound with Hamish Malsem leading the charge from down back. A complete team performance sees the Bushrangers build momentum heading into next week.

The Ressies had a fantastic game against Mitta on the weekend. While still no chocolates, the team put in a solid performance again. A great mix of youth and experience and speed and strength on display. Surely a win is coming against the better sides soon.

A Grade Netball: 65 - 38

A Grade started the game strongly, but unfortunately Mitta proved too strong in the end. There were some really promising passages of play, with defensive pressure once again a highlight, creating valuable turnovers. In attack, there was some smooth ball movement, with direct passages of play throughout the midcourt, flowing into some well-timed passes into the shooters allowing for quality scoring opportunities.

B Grade Netball: 65 - 40

B Grade had a much better game this week and it was a positive turn around from last week. It was our highest scoring game so far and the spirits from all were higher.
Matilda showed what she was capable of today, providing great drive into the ring and shooting that ball high. Emma continues to be the stabiliser up in defence, but forgot what team she was playing for, for a moment. Leila showed some really great attitude today and got behind the team. Keep it up girls, we'll get that win soon!

C Grade Netball: 39 - 38

An outstanding performance by C grade today. The game was goal for goal until the final whistle. The attacking end worked the ball without forcing play and had some great passages of play. Our defence was tight, providing ample turn overs. As a new team, the girls are really starting to find their feet, I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings!

22-25 winners!! What a great win this week after a few tough games for the girls! Not only was it a win but a fight back to get the win! So proud of all the girls and the heart and effort they put in to keep going and get the win! But also the effort and drive they put in week in and week out! The positivity of this group is amazing and they are so enjoyable to coach!

U17’s Netball: 54 - 19

A tough game against a strong opposition today, but the team showed plenty of positive signs throughout the match. There were some great passages of play with strong drives through the midcourt and quality feeding into the ring, creating good scoring opportunities. Defensively, the pressure in the ring was a standout, with strong contests and determination to win back possession.

U15’s Netball: 25 - 51

A strong 51–25 win that required consistent effort across the court. The defenders did a great job reading the play and creating turnovers, while the attackers handled physical pressure well. A solid team effort all round.

U13s Netball: 17 - 24

The 13s delivered a strong team performance. Their defensive pressure was consistent across court, creating valuable turnovers, while their attacking play flowed smoothly with great connections through the goal circle. The team worked hard to maintain good spacing, deliver strong passes, and support one another, which was great to see. They led for the first three quarters, but momentum shifted late, with Mitta edging ahead to take the win 20–17. A lot to be proud of today—the effort, teamwork, and the way training is carrying through into game day.

U13’s Res: 10 - 22

It was a lovely morning for spectators after the sun broke through the fog - a little warm for our players out on the court though! The girls showed great teamwork, team spirit and  passages of strong connection against the 15Res side today. Sadie worked hard and provided strong, clear leads through the midcourt and demonstrated great balance and control with her passing. Aulay showed great resilience, working hard in centre (and the hot sun), providing strong drives and never giving up on the contest. Devi continues to impress with her natural movement in the goal circle and remains a strong, reliable target under the ring.

U11’s Netball: 3 - 11

U11’s played a fantastic game today to take home an 11-3 win against Mitta. Both defensive and attacking pressure was brilliant to watch. They made countless turn overs down the court which resulted in scoring opportunities. Well done team, keep it up!

U11’s Wodonga: 4 - 1

What a fantastic start to the season for the team, coming away with a 4-1 win in their very first game together!
The team played exceptionally well, and it was great to see all their hard work from preseason coming together on the court. Their midcourt pressure created plenty of turnovers, while a strong defensive effort kept the opposition under constant pressure.
Audrey, Penelope and Zahli received awards today. A big shout out as well to Cooper in playing his first game for the bushies
