ROUND FOUR vs Yackandandah
Seniors Football: 11.11 77 - 8.9 57
Anzac Day was acknowledged with a tough contest after Yackandandah came out firing and capitalised early while we struggled to convert our chances. They built a strong lead by halftime, leaving us with plenty of work to do in the second half. Our boys lifted and began applying scoreboard pressure, but the gap proved too big to close. Cam, Kayde, and Sammy all put in strong performances, with Stevo clearly leading the way as our best on ground.

Very proud of the boys this weekend. We couldn’t come away with the 4 points but the boys never gave up and fought till the final whistle. Playing at night was probably the biggest test as a lot of the boys have never done it before and struggled with the different conditions. With a couple boys going up into the Seniors and the 3-4 off sick or away for Anzac Day, it just shows the talent we have around the club at the moment. Our 2nd win is just around the corner and the boys can feel that.

The Under 14s started the game with real intent, bringing strong pressure and winning plenty of the ball early. Although we couldn’t turn that dominance into scoreboard pressure, it was a clear positive — especially given we’ve been a little slow to get going in previous weeks. The second quarter followed a similar pattern: solid effort, good contests, but missed opportunities to capitalise. The third quarter was where we let ourselves down. We allowed the opposition to dictate terms and lead us to the ball, which shifted momentum their way.
To the group’s credit, the response in the final quarter was outstanding. The boys took the coaches’ message on board and lifted their effort across the ground. Playing for each other, celebrating the small wins, and committing to the contest produced our best quarter of footy for the year. A lot to build on, and plenty to like.

Amazing effort today by the under 12s. We came up against a really talented and well coached team in Yackandandah and gave them a real challenge. While the scoreboard doesn’t indicate it, it was a really evenly matched game. In the end we were beaten by a strong team. There were some fantastic individual efforts with people running their hearts out in the heat and overall just a fantastic effort by the whole team. Definitely proud of their efforts.

A Grade Netball: 60 - 27
A challenging result on the scoreboard today, going down 60–27, but there were so many positives to take from the game. The girls put together some excellent passages of play and showed real strength in defence throughout. The attacking end showed great improvement, with smoother connections and more confident movement creating plenty of opportunities. It was a true whole team effort and easily their best game yet, which is really exciting as everything starts to come together.
Molly was outstanding in the ring, showing confidence and accuracy to keep the pressure on the opposition. Eidenne worked tirelessly through centre, providing great drive and setting the tone with her defensive pressure across the court. Ruby also had a strong game, delivering some beautiful feeds into the circle and helping to build attacking momentum.

A very hot and fast game of netball today for B Grade, who unfortunately did not come home with the win. A great effort by the girls, who fought hard for 4 quarters and made some beautiful passages of play.

Today was a hot and tough day on the court. The first half of the game was close and we had some great passages of play. Yackandandah took off in the second half and crept away with the win. The girl fought hard until the final whistle and should be proud of their efforts!

Started well and ended well just lost the game in the middle there! A good effort by all the girls nonetheless in a physical game with a few player changes. A continuous positive attitude and fighting to the end every week is great to see! Elsey was great returning after a few weeks away for us controlling the game. Beth I threw a curve ball to putting her into a completely new position and of course she shined and always does as I ask! Montana made some great plays today working the ball well into the ring with some great goals!

U17s had a fantastic hit-out today against Yack, finishing in a 37–37 draw. It was an incredibly even contest, and the girls should be so proud of the way they competed right until the final whistle.
Across the court, the teamwork and connection were a real highlight. The ball movement was smooth, players worked hard for each other, and there was consistent effort in both attack and defence. It’s clear the work at training is translating into game day.

There were many positives to take from the match, including securing intercepts and creating valuable opportunities, creating space and passing in front as well as consistent defensive pressure.

Another strong performance from the girls this week, although they didn’t come away with the win, going down 12-20. With a full team line-up, we made good use of rolling subs in the last quarter to keep energy and intensity high. The mid court stood out again, creating great space and securing multiple interceptions.
