ROUND ELEVEN vs Dederang Mt Beauty

Seniors Football: 7.3 45 - 4.5 29

In wet, muddy and bitterly cold conditions, Beechworth battled hard in a physical contest against Dederang Mt Beauty. The Bushrangers applied strong scoreboard pressure early and were able to maintain a handy advantage for most of the afternoon despite the difficult conditions. Dederang Mt Beauty finished strongly with a couple of late goals reducing the final margin, but Beechworth had done enough to secure an important win. Highlights included a vintage torpedo punt from the boundary by the skipper that brought plenty of excitement, while youngster Taylor Thompson celebrated his first senior game with his first senior goal. It was a determined team performance and another encouraging step forward for the Bushrangers.

Another great win Bushies, Difficult conditions in the morning but first up probably got the best conditions for the day… at least the ground anyway. Really solid effort by all with some younger players getting a bit more of the play this week while our more experienced players made the most of limited game time and playing out of position to give others a go. Proud of the way they went about it!

A Grade Netball: 33 - 55

A tough day for the girls today, unable to come away with the win, but there were plenty of positives to take away from the game. Coby stepped on court for her first A Grade game this year and, even more excitingly, played alongside her niece Molly for the first time. She provided beautiful leads and drives all day and had a massive impact on the game. Eidenne ran tirelessly through the centre, providing plenty of voice and delivering some great feeds into the circle. Emmerson worked hard in the circle all day and was a reliable target, converting consistently and keeping the scoreboard ticking over.

Dan was strong all day, showing her experience and skill in the conditions. Meanwhile, Emma and Jamie both provided plenty of defensive pressure, creating lots of turnovers and helping drive the team forward.

C Res Netball: 25 - 21

A great game of netball by the girls in some wet wet conditions! The girls worked so hard all game to achieve the win! Play was adjusted by all to accommodate the conditions for what felt like we were swimming rather than playing netball. Even down a few players, we pushed through for a full 4 quarter win! Very proud of all the girls working hard to the finish line and getting another win for the season!

U13s Netball: 6 - 22

Well done to the 13s, who played with huge heart across four rainy quarters today! The girls put up a good fight against Dederang, ultimately going down 6-22. Our attacking game plan worked on opening up the court, popping forward for the ball, and transitioning quickly to defence on any turnovers. In defence, the focus was on staying tight and getting 3 feet and hands over straight away to apply pressure and slow down the opposition's progression. Brilliant fighting spirit in the wet weather!

It's a reflection of the commitment and hard work the team puts in each week, along with the dedication and guidance provided by our coach, Soxy. What an amazing game from the team, going down 3–1 but showing incredible determination and teamwork from start to finish. The team was outstanding through the midcourt, with numerous intercepts and fighting hard for every loose ball. Their relentless pressure created plenty of turnovers, while their strong rebounding efforts gave the team valuable extra opportunities. Everyone did a stellar job getting in front of their player, creating space down the court, and working together to keep the game competitive right until the final whistle.
