ROUND THIRTEEN vs Thurgoona
Indigenous Round
Seniors Football: 10.9 69 - 9.11 65
After a week of heavy rain, all signs pointed to a muddy slog at Beechworth, but the home ground held up remarkably well and allowed the Bushies to move the ball with confidence throughout the first half. The contest was a genuine arm wrestle, with momentum swinging repeatedly, but the commitment and experience of Beechworth's "Dad's Army" proved crucial as they wrestled the game back on the club's terms each quarter. Every Bushies player played their role, working tirelessly across the ground and contributing to a disciplined team performance. It was a well-deserved reward for a group that has battled through a difficult run of injuries and setbacks in recent weeks. A tense final term had the home crowd on edge, but composed decision-making and determined defence saw Beechworth hold on for a hard-fought victory.

Great team effort today with strong defensive pressure, hard work for every ball, and excellent transition from defence into attack. Edith McInerney was outstanding in GK/GD with great speed, defensive pressure, and fight for every ball. Indiana Jensen attacked the ball beautifully, shot accurately, and had a fantastic game in GA. What an incredible game! Well done to the entire team on an excellent 51–34 win. Every player contributed and played their role, making it one of the team's best performances of the season. As a club we were so proud to see the girls maintain excellent sportsmanship and composure for the full game. Thank you to both umpires for fair and consistent umpiring. They gave their all from start to finish, showed great teamwork, encouraged each other, never gave up, and there were plenty of encouraging moments to build on. Well done, girls!
